Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage APS6 and an EL1 Assistant Director Communications and Engagement Projects for a contract for 12 months with potential extension in Adelaide.

About the Team

The Communications and Engagement Business Partners Branch provides engagement and communication solutions and advice to support the Agency to deliver. They lead development and implementation of multi-channel engagement and communication strategies to support key initiatives across the Agency and drive engagement with key internal and external audiences.

The branch is the front door for Agency business areas to receive integrated communication, engagement, marketing and media support. We collaborate with business areas to map, plan and deliver strategic engagement and communications activities that support their projects and reach intended audiences and build their capacity. They guide business areas on the execution of their engagement and communications activities and provide best practice engagement and communications advice.

About the Role

The APS6 Communications and Engagement Project Officer is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities including the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team. It will require working collaboratively within the team including sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise.

The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.

The APS6 Communications and Engagement Project Officer will provide detailed technical, professional, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency's objectives to "build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme".

The role may have exposure to the public in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It may liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch and wider Agency.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Supporting drive the strategic direction to project areas to drive behavioural change through Communications and Engagement with targeted content and engagement activities.

  • Supporting the development and delivery of communications and engagement plans, producing accessible and Plain English content for a variety of channels (e.g. Agency's website, Ministerial and Executive Briefings, social media and other communication platforms)
  • Contributing within a project management framework including, strategic planning, reporting and forecasting to identify priority areas for communication and engagement.
  • Supporting leaders in driving organisational change and corporate culture in complex environments with the ability to quickly earn trust and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Making decisions, with support and direction from line managers, on communications and engagement projects with considerable complexity and sensitivity
  • Developing and delivering best practice communication and engagement to staff with measurable impact
  • Developing a range of internal and external accessible communication material including key message packs, articles, documents, web content, PowerPoint presentations and leadership
  • Experience working with change management, delivering behavioural change within agile project management methodology.

About the Role

The EL1 Assistant Director, Communications and Engagement Projects is an important team leadership position within the Agency and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks. It will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team. This includes building team capacity to effectively deliver required outcomes and implement practical solutions in unique or varying circumstances.

The role will be responsible for one or more of the high profile projects based on current priorities and may change over time.

The EL1 Assistant Director, Communications and Engagement Projects is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and may be required to represent and negotiate on behalf of the Agency to advance the Agency's interests across a range of forums.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic direction to project areas to drive behavioural change through Communications and Engagement with targeted content and engagement activities.
  • Providing advice and support to the Director within Agency's project management framework including, strategic planning, reporting and forecasting to identify priority areas for communication and engagement.
  • Supporting leaders in driving organisational change and corporate culture in complex environments with the ability to quickly earn trust and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Developing and delivering best practice communication and engagement to staff with measurable impact.
  • Developing a range of internal and external accessible communication material including key message packs, articles, documents, web content, PowerPoint presentations and leadership
  • Experience working with change management, deliver behavioural change within agile project management methodology.
  • Manage staff and competing work priorities, identifying areas of overlap and key gaps and opportunities to refine and improve approaches.
  • Representing the Agency in stakeholder interactions and meetings, delivering effective messaging to people with disability, their families and carers as well as key stakeholders.

  • Position located in Adelaide
  • APS6 $58.50/ph + super
  • EL1 $585.00 per day + super
  • Temporary contract for 12 months, with possibility to extend
  • Standard Hours or work - Monday to Friday, 8:30 am till 5:00 pm
