This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Administration Officer to join a busy Federal Government team.

About the role:

  • You will be providing administration support to the greater team
  • You will be managing and mentoring of a team of administration staff including allocating and monitoring workloads
  • Working with the management team, you will be building staff capability through coaching and mentoring
  • You will be required to undertake general finance tasks including budgets, monitoring, forecasting, cost centres and project finance
  • You will be required to facilitate the payment of invoices, receipt of goods and reconciliation of financial data
  • You will be responsible for diary and email management for the team, along with booking of travel and accommodation bookings
  • You will undertake general Office Management duties including property maintenance, IT, security, and the purchasing of office stationery and equipment
  • You will be drafting general correspondence and communications internally, including any reports or briefing papers
  • You will be required to undertake reporting - including month end
  • You will be responsible for coordinating recruitment and basic HR duties such as staff rosters and training schedules

About you:

  • You will have extensive administration/team administration/Executive Assistant or Office Management experience within Federal Government
  • You will have experience working with legislation, policies and procedures
  • You will have previous experience leading and mentoring a team
  • You will have excellent time management experience and able to work to strict time constraints, and the ability to prioritise your workload accordingly.
  • You will have high attention to detail
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • You will have intermediate to advanced IT skills


  • 1st September 2021 start date
  • Temporary assignment until 30th June 2022
  • Full time hours Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day
  • Central Townsville location
