About the role:

The APS5 Project Officer (Policy Officer) is responsible for in supporting the Agency in its participation at all levels of government. Your work will be varied, fast-paced, and highly valued. You will communicate with various internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the government agency.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Analyse and interpret legislation, policies, strategies and program/project plans.
  • Conduct research to inform policy and strategy design.
  • Contribute to briefings, business cases and other executive material.
  • Support managers at external forums and events.
  • Provide information and guidance to people with disability, Agency participants and the wider community.
  • Contribute to the development of project plans and activities.
 
 
MANDATORY
  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of complex cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • Project management and administration skills and experience – tracking tasks across the project team, managing reporting and deadlines.
  • Stakeholder engagement – including emailing and talking to external stakeholders about project work.
  • Secretariat and governance experience – including being able to set up meetings, write agendas and minutes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one
Desirable skills to have for the role:
  • Brief and reporting writing experience – including experience in writing for government, in plain English and formatting documents.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible and adaptable when managing competing policy priorities.

  • Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work within and across teams, the ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritise and allocate tasks in an efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
