Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced Media Officer to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a contract term of 12 months.

Based in Surry Hills­, this agency is tasked with being responsible for a Scheme that supports a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.

Key Accountabilities:

In this position you will be expected to:

  • Seek opportunities to promote the Scheme, with a particular focus on finding and telling individual stories about participants who are benefitting from their supports.
  • Pitch participant stories and other media opportunities to journalists with a view of landing stories in mainstream media that help build community awareness and promote the Scheme.
  • Manage relationships and build strong networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, disability service providers, and Agency Partners in the Community (PITC).
  • Produce media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points, and Social media posts to support Agency announcements and media opportunities for Agency spokespeople and the Minister for the Scheme.
  • Manage and respond to media enquiries and identifying potential media risks.
  • Undertake a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to, organising photo shoots, supporting Digital Media video shoots, and providing support for reporting, analytics and presentations.
