About the role:

The APS5 Media Officer will work with diverse internal and external stakeholders to help deliver a range of communications, media solutions and opportunities You will work collaboratively with the Media and Marketing team to deliver excellent outcomes as well as work independently or under limited guidance in relation to the complex works.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Seek opportunities to promote the Scheme, with a particular focus on finding and telling individual stories about participants who are benefitting from their Agency supports
  • Pitch participant stories and other media opportunities to journalists with a view of landing stories in mainstream media that help build community awareness and promote the Scheme
  • Manage relationships and build strong networks and connections with internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on journalists, and disability service providers
  • Produce media and other communications products, including media releases, talking points, and Social media posts to support announcements and media opportunities for the Agency
  • Manage and respond to media enquiries and identifying potential media risks
  • Undertake a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to, organising photo shoots, supporting Digital Media video shoots, and providing support for reporting, analytics and presentations.


MANDATORY

  • Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree or higher) in Media or Similar (Such as Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design etc)
  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of complex cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in organizing, assessment and case management via telephone.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.
