Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS5 Compliance Officer on a contract for 3 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

Duties & Responsibilities:
Compliance Officers will perform some or all of the following duties:
  • Assess assessment of applications for retailer authorisation or exemption to obtain an authorisation under regulatory frameworks
  • Analyse, assess and advise on regulated business participation in energy markets in a timely way
  • Research, interpret and assess potential contraventions of energy laws and rules in accordance with Agency’s processes
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of risk-based compliance initiatives
  • Under guidance, draft less complex written material including correspondence, minutes, briefings, guidelines, advices and submissions on compliance issues, Committee and Board papers
  • Keep accurate, thorough and functional records, including capturing documents in information management systems and updating investigation management systems and reports
  • Liaise with Agency’s staff, Agency’s Board and senior managers, energy market participants, government (federal and state/territory), consumer groups and other stakeholders
  • Work flexibly as part of a team and independently, across multiple projects in a geographically dispersed work environment.
The following job-specific criteria are highly desirable:
  • knowledge and demonstrated experience developing and implementing risk based compliance programs, preferably within a government regulatory environment
  • knowledge or understanding, or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of the Australian energy sector and the role, purpose and objectives of the Agency
  • tertiary qualifications in law, economics / commerce, public policy, engineering or related fields.
