Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a ASP4 Payroll Adviser on 12-month non-ongoing engagement, or a S.26 transfer.

Position Overview
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Process a range of tasks related to the delivery of payroll and conditions of service including salary variations, calculation of allowances and final entitlements for staff cessations
  • Understand and apply relevant APS legislation and terms and conditions including the Enterprise Agreement and policy and procedures
  • Have attention to detail and maintain data in the payroll system
  • Provide clear, comprehensive and accurate verbal and/or written advice to stakeholders
  • Monitor and respond to email correspondence to the required standards and timeframes
  • Maintain payroll data and accurate records to a high standard
  • Complete payroll transactions and related correspondence in accordance with the payroll cycle
  • Manage all relevant records according to the Department’s record management framework
  • Mentor, train and support other payroll officers
  • Participate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the payroll team processes and practices
  • Contribute to projects that support team business objectives.

Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience in undertaking pay transactions on an automated pay management system
  • Able to work in a team environment and the ability to guide and develop team members
  • Ability to interpret employment legislation and provide accurate advice on employee entitlements
  • Well-developed written skills, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including initiative and the ability to foster effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to manage information that is sensitive in nature
  • Is curious, has good problem solving skills, and able to learn and adapt
  • Excellent organisational skills, including energy and drive to achieve results
  • Resilient with a positive attitude and responsive to changing and competing priorities

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Experience in undertaking pay transactions on an automated pay management system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products – particularly Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Two to four years in payroll, finance, or HR administration
  • Qualification in finance/payroll, administration or a related field.
