Position title: APS4 Geospatial Analyst - Federal Government
Contract Estimation Duration: Nov 2020 - 30 June 2021 (W. Possibility of Extension(s))

Salary / Rate: $40 - $50 P/h + Super (DOE)
Purpose of this position:
The Person will assist with the reduction in a backlog of unassessed hydrographic survey data. This process involves visualising the bathymetry and examining accompanying documentation to determine and assign data quality attributes. Data format and datum changes are often required to produce validated bathymetry suitable to update the Clients navigational charts. Reduction of these data backlogs will reduce the of uncharted dangers existing in backlog datasets and of published charts.

  • Remediation and Review of the Third Party Survey Backlog:
    o Remediate the Third Party Survey Backlog
    o Other data related remediation, as required
  • Appraisal of unassessed bathymetric datasets and the creation of validated bathymetric data in Caris Bathy DataBase.

  • General Requirements:
    The duties of a Geospatial Analyst occupation will include the following (note: not all duties are required to be performed during a 12 month performance cycle):
  • Perform straightforward geospatial analysis and production tasks under general direction from supervisor, making decisions within defined parameters.
  • Contribute new ideas and identify opportunities to improve the work of the team.
  • Monitor task progress against performance expectation to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Use experience in Geographic Information Systems to maintain and enhance geospatial databases.
  • Apply knowledge and experience of geospatial analysis information and products to make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Listen to stakeholders and understand the relationships between business priorities and tasks.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
  • Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks and international and national standards.
  • Prioritise workload and monitor task progress in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to meet business objectives.

    Technical Scope:
    An APS4 Geospatial Analyst is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex geospatial analysis and production work within an integrated workforce. They are expected to have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant work procedures, geospatial standards and policy requirements.
    An APS4 Geospatial Analyst will be accountable for organizing their workflow, making decisions within defined parameters relating to their area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required. They may exercise some discretion with respect to how legislation, procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied to their work. They will provide specialist support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the discipline. They may undertake some research and analysis activities.
    The APS4 Geospatial Analyst will be required to share information, monitor work practices, set work priorities and develop local procedures.

    The APS4 Spatial Analyst may be required to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative issues to achieve work unit and Client outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
    Education:
    Mandatory

     Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems Experience in data visualization and manipulation Experience working with large datasets
    Desirable

     Experience with hydrographic surveying or hydrographic data examination

     Experience working with bathymetric data visualization and manipulation (ie: experience hydrographic survey data processing and/or manipulation)

     Experience in Caris hydrographic survey software suite
