About the role:

The APS3 Customer Service Officer (Access officer) will work directly with participants, applicants and their family representatives, providers, internal staff and external agencies to manage and resolve eligibility assessments and unscheduled plan reassessments within a timely manner.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Review, process and assess documentation and ensuring all information is available for an access decision in accordance with policy and legislation.
  • Make appropriate access decisions in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Respond to phone and email enquiries about access and eligibility, providing accurate information and effective support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and undertaking a range of data entry responsibilities in accordance with Agency standards and policies.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Scan and complete documents according to Agency standards and policies.
  • Inform prospective participants of their application progress as well as their rights and obligations.

MANDATORY
  • Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work within the team and adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work closely with the participant and their carer/s
  • Ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy
  • Ability to synthesis and analyse information and make decisions
  • Adaptable communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competency with IT systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Working with Children Check. This is only applicable to some positions within the Agency that require the occupant to have access to classified Australian Government information.
  • The Agency Worker Screening Check. This is only applicable to some positions within the Agency that require the occupant to have access to classified Australian Government information.
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one

Desirable skills to have for the role:
  • Experience working with people with disability or lived experience of disability
  • Experience in working within service delivery environment
  • Administrative experience
