Our client a global banking enterprise is looking for a switched on finance professional to join their team based in Sydney CBD in the role of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Specialist. The contract will start ASAP until the end of 2020 with the possibility of extension.

This role sits within the Consumer Business Support Unit supporting the wider business by successfully undertaking AML related functions including completion of Account Inquiry requests, Annual Customer Due Diligence reports, Overlay/Account Profile Forms, Transaction Monitoring and Sanctions Screening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of Transaction Monitoring Alerts, Annual Customer Due Diligence (CDD) information gathering for all unassigned Customers, and Branch Annual reviews.
  • Actioning of Sanctions escalations.
  • Undertake Senior Public Figure reviews.
  • Conduct customer contact calls in resolution of CDD, High Risk Account Classification (HRAC) and other AML enquiries.
  • Undertake HRAC reviews including completion of Overlays/Account Profile Forms.
  • Support AML suspicious matter investigations through obtaining information and lodgements of Suspicious Matter Reports to AUSTRAC.
  • Identify and escalate suspect activity to Management.
  • Assist other units in AML projects, audit retrievals and certifications.
  • Undertake Checker Process as directed.
  • Assist in the preparation of metrics and maintain accurate records and reporting.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 3 years exposure to the Banking and Finance industry in finance roles
  • A good understanding of key AML risks and typologies with experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-cultural/functional team operations environment with heavy workloads and time sensitive deliverables
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) skills
  • Articulate, confident communicator with a polite phone manner
  • An enquiring analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks, issues and trends
  • Confidence in findings, accuracy and timeliness in reporting to management
  • Methodical and systematic in work approach with excellent time management
  • Exceptional attention to detail
