About the role:

The position will be required to work as part of a team to achieve team objectives and outcomes, often working autonomously.

  • Understand the principles of procurement and how to undertake less complex procurement activities in a compliant manner.
  • Use sound problem solving skills and sound judgement to ensure consistent decision making in accordance with internal guidance and procedures.
  • Provide support to the team, provide advice to business units, and instruct others on routine administrative activities, as required.
  • Have the capability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.

The duties of the role:

Contract support and reporting:

  • Contract and administration support for procurement activities including registering contracts, updating internal registers and general administration.
  • Records management
  • Assist in undertaking and providing advice related to simple and medium procurements.
  • Assist in the development of various reports, both internal and external.
  • Facilitate and advise clients in relation to procurement activities to ensure compliance with internal procedures and Commonwealth Procurement Rules.

Relationship Management:

  • Works collaboratively with the CSIRO business units to assist them in the management of procurement activities.
  • Works as part of the team and support team objectives.
  • Ensure risks and issues are escalated to the appropriate delegate in a timely manner

Selection Criteria

  • Working experience in analysing data and in developing reports.
  • Business and service improvement oriented - identifies improvements to current processes and communicates alternative and improved practices.
  • Well-developed communication skills with a demonstrated capability in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including Commonwealth departments, external and internal stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous personal development and integrity, including demonstrated public service professionalism, and adopt a balanced approach to work.


  • Relevant experience in the use of Excel and SAP.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the agency's values or similar organisational values.
