Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an Admin Officer Tech & Safety for a 12 month assignment with potential extension in Adelaide CBD.

About this role

The Federal Government client is a newly established Commonwealth Agency has a unique opportunity to lead and shape the establishment and future of Australia's specialist expertise in radioactive waste management with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working together to deliver on the Government's commitment for the safe and secure management of the nation's radioactive waste material.

The Administrative Officer will work across teams in support of Department's Safety and Technical Branch. You will provide comprehensive administration support, working collaboratively to ensure the branch operates effectively at a time of rapid growth and capability building.

Key capabilities delivered by this position include:

  • Development of policies, procedures and instructions for the Department as we work towards obtaining ISO 9001 (Quality Management), 14001 (Environmental Management) and 45001 (Safety Management) certification
  • Coordination and secretariat for meetings with internal and external stakeholders including ANSTO, ARPANSA, ASNO, AECOM and others
  • Coordination of site visits to Napandee for Technical/Safety personnel and external stakeholders
  • Coordination of national radioactive waste inventory updates, including drafting of correspondence to waste holders and regulators.
  • Tracking of technical and safety budget and expenses
  • Assist with matters relating to procurement
  • Coordination of training for Technical/Safety personnel and involvement in international conferences and workshops such as those held by the IAEA, NEA and others.
  • Coordination of Technical/Safety correspondence/document management in Aconex.

Skills, knowledge and attributes

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in providing secretariat support for meetings, including drafting agendas, meeting paper preparation, minute taking and follow up actions.
  • Excellent administration and organisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.


To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
  • Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, we will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
  • Staff may be required to undergo an Agency Suitability Assessment.

What's on Offer?

  • Position located in Adelaide
  • $55.00/ph + super
  • Temporary contract for 12 months, with possibility to extend
  • Standard Hours or work - Monday to Friday, 8:30 am till 5:00 pm
