Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Research Support Officer on a contract until June 2020, with potential extensions of 12 months.

Position Overview

Due to Government and Departmental ASL restrictions, our client has an ongoing requirement to supplement its Commonwealth Public Service work force with contracted labour hire. This labour hire component accounts for approximately one third of client's workforce and provides critical support and continuity across all business products. Without ongoing support from this component of its workforce, client's ability to meet its charter and directed strategic outcomes will be significantly impacted.

To support client's Concept and Capability (C&C) Directorate's Strategic Activity and Business Plan outputs. There is a requirement for Research Support Officer with the skills, attributes, and experience necessary to engage with stakeholders and provide support to directorate staff. The Research Support Officer will work under the direction of the Director C&C and Assistant Director Research.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex issues as directed to promote civil-military-police coordination, supporting client's mandate, and achieving outcomes.
  • Assist the Director C&C and Assistant Director Research in managing client's relationships and outreach activities as required, including existing and any new stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide quality assurance for external and internal documents to ensure they are appropriate, timely, accurate, comprehensive, and identify risks and recommend actions to address them.
  • Draft a range of written documents for the Directorate. Assist the Directorate by identifying opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes.
  • Coordinate contract management including developing tender documentation, managing selection processes and developing contracts.
  • Work collaboratively with all client's Directorates to achieve mandate.
  • Take the initiative to progress work to meet business objectives, provide frank and sound advice and guidance on more complex issues.
  • Be prepared to advocate for and represent client at domestic and (when required) international

Mandatory Requirements:
