Job Title: Accounts Payable Officer
Contract Type: Part time, 24 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (2 months approximately)
Pay Rate or Salary: Rate - $34.03 to $35.25 + super
Location: Camberwell Offices
Commencement Date: 23 November 2021
End Date: 13 January 2022
Working Arrangements: Combination of working in office and working from home (dependent on IT requirements and availability)

We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join our highly sought-after client, City of Boroondara.

Primary Objective and Position Context

As an Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring all creditors receive timely and accurate payments in accordance with Council policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
This position will include working professionally with employees at all levels across council and liaising with relevant external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities / Outcomes

  • Process creditor invoices
  • Undertake adhoc requests for payment
  • Maintain and reconcile supplier accounts
  • Focus on continuous improvement in the areas of customer experience, use of resources and employee engagement.
  • Provide support to internal staff by means of training and advice regarding the payments process

Required Skills / Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in an accounts payable function of a medium to large organisation
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting and accounts payable principles
  • Strong computer literacy and spreadsheeting skills
  • Demonstrated experience of process improvement
  • Good understanding of relevant Council policies and regulations
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work cooperatively to ensure individual and team objectives are achieved within set timeframes
  • Able to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities and to work under pressure
