The Opportunity:
As a Principal Procurement Officer your role will require an experienced proactive thinker with excellent organisational and business operational methodology. Working within the finance bracket of this large government department, you will be strategically developing and initiating procurement policies. You will be critical in driving organisational performance, aiming to achieve outcomes that benefit the community, state, and economy.

About the role:
  • Coordinate and develop departmental processes such as tenders, expressions of interest, and ROIs related to the provision of goods and assets.
  • Engage with stakeholders of all levels and fields to optimise procurement and organisational performance.
  • Lead and manage the development of staff within the procurement team, fostering innovation, critical analysis, L &D, and career progression.
  • Assist with influence in the curation of Legislative Acts, Government Policies, departmental policies, ministerial briefings, and reports.
  • Act in accordance with the integrity, impartiality, and discretion of a public servant, ensuring you promote the expectations and values of ethical public service.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Offers 2-3 years’ experience of recruitment in a similar or related role in a large organisation.
  • Is familiar with the policies and legislative requirements of procurement within the public sector.
  • Is agile, responsive, leadership driven, and seeking to contribute to a large organisation with strong organisational objectives.
  • Is willing to self-identify opportunities for growth and take on independent research related to the role
  • Represents the values that promote this department in its objective to improve the outcomes for all Queenslanders, now and into the future.
