Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage APS5/APS6 Communications and Media Officers on a contract for 4 months with potential extension.
Duties :
Communications -
  • Supporting Senior Communications Advisors, provide professional communications and support and advice in one or more areas, including internal and external events, stakeholder engagement, publications, and online content design and development
  • Demonstrate strong written communication skills in developing materials on complex issues, editing and reviewing materials prepared by others
  • Build effective relationships across the agency to influence outcomes and support delivery of outputs that meet the needs of the agency
  • Exhibit exceptional teamwork, assisting other communication areas as required, supporting the wider work of the section
  • Work independently, leading on projects, with limited direction within established priorities, practices, and processes to deliver quality outcomes
  • Manage and deliver on multiple activities and projects simultaneously, demonstrating agility to move between priorities to support the section or the agency
  • An awareness of emerging trends in communications and the ability to provide advice to business areas on options and proposed solutions to communication issues
  • A strong record of research and analytical skills and experience in undertaking evaluation of communication activities, including reporting and analysis of work and recommendations for improvements
Media -
  • Supporting Senior Communications Advisers, provide professional media support and advice, including media events, enquiries, interviews and engagement
  • Demonstrate strong written communication skills in developing materials on complex issues, editing and reviewing materials prepared by others, particularly for media releases and other supporting content for media
  • Build effective relationships across the agency to influence outcomes and support delivery of outputs that meet the needs of the agency
  • Exhibit exceptional teamwork, assisting other communication areas as required, supporting the wider work of the section
  • Work independently, leading on projects, with limited direction within established priorities, practices, and processes to deliver quality outcomes. Supervise and mentor junior media officers.
  • Manage and deliver on multiple activities and projects simultaneously, demonstrating agility to move between priorities to support the section or the agency
  • An awareness of emerging trends in the media and the ability to provide advice to business areas on options and proposed solutions to media risks and issues
  • A strong record of research and analytical skills and experience in undertaking evaluation of media activities, including reporting and analysis of work and recommendations for improvements
Qualifications/experience/attributes :
  • A degree or diploma, or post graduate diploma from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification, with a major in journalism, public relations or communications is highly desirable. 
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
