Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide specialist design expertise and technical leadership across a range of electrical infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll take ownership of scoping, designing, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and commercial standards.

You’ll also contribute to developing design frameworks, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation through the use of emerging technologies and best practice design principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver detailed electrical and protection system designs for large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Lead and support engineering teams to achieve technical excellence and high-quality outcomes.
• Review and validate design documentation to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Apply emerging technologies such as IEC61850, SCADA integration, and renewable energy systems.
• Implement process improvements to enhance design efficiency and project performance.
• Develop and maintain technical standards, specifications, and design methodologies.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

About You
You’re a driven and detail-oriented engineer who enjoys tackling complex challenges and providing innovative technical solutions. You bring strong protection and control system knowledge, project leadership capability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

To be successful, you’ll have:

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
• Professional registration (CPEng, NER or equivalent preferred)
• Extensive experience in substation, protection, or electrical systems design
• Strong proficiency in relevant design and analysis tools (e.g., AutoCAD, DigSilent PowerFactory, PSSE, Sincal)
• Demonstrated ability to configure and test protection relays from leading suppliers
• Experience leading or mentoring project teams
• Strong understanding of safety legislation, design standards, and risk management principles
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and analytical skills
