Principal Ecologist

A great opportunity has arrived for an experienced Ecologist to lead the growth of an established environmental consultancy’s new Queensland state office in Brisbane. Launching from a successful business platform which has developed a strong industry reputation for excellence in environmental impact assessments, research and cultural and heritage solutions this opportunity will provide an applicant with proven leadership and technical knowledge with an unprecedented opportunity to make a career defining impact on complex projects.

Significant responsibilities of the role include preparing project budgets, project resource allocation, client networking and business development. You will also have hands on approach to field studies to ensure client expectations on scope of studies are met by our growing and enthusiastic team. Your role in mentoring and developing junior ecological staff will be crucial to developing your high calibre teams long terms success.

In return you will be supported by Consultancy Directors who share your passion for ecology and will help you cement your own reputation as the go to person industry turn to for timely and accurate environmental assessments and research projects.

Meeting well defined objectives will be your goal as a results driven individual. Conceptual skills will be evident in your ability to develop scope of studies and your ability to comply with legislative requirements and regulations. Highly developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a close knit team will be crucial to your success in this role.

You will possess tertiary qualifications in environmental science, with specialisation in zoology, botany or ecology. A background in natural resource management will also be highly regarded. You will also have a strong reporting background with a solid track record of ecological assessments and a willingness to share your expertise with others.

The successful applicant will possess the technical expertise to steer projects across all phases to completion. Your interpersonal skills include refined writing and verbal communication which will be invaluable to leading your team and presenting findings to clients.
