Sustainability Reporting Manager
Adelaide Brighton Ltd is a leading integrated construction material and lime producing group of companies focused on the construction, engineering, infrastructure and resource sectors in Australia. With its origins dating back to 1882 at Brighton, South Australia, the Company today has operations in all Australian states and territories and employs 1600 people.
You will be responsible for ensuring the company is compliant with the obligations imposed on the Group by Clean Energy Legislation, National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (“NGER”), National Pollutant Inventory and Energy Efficiency Opportunities. The position will also be involved in; sustainability reporting to third parties as required, including the Cement Industry Federation, investors and approved sustainability data services, undertaking sustainability audits with regard to processes across the group to assist the business to improve sustainability, and ensuring sustainability information supports the environmental claims made for Adelaide Brighton products.
You are strong with data and understand the business impact of information. You will collate divisional information and report both internally (senior management/board) and externally (government) in a timely manner to align with key reporting dates. The operational divisions can provide challenges so your experience, maturity and confidence will allow you to engage a diverse, senior internal stakeholder group in order to secure the data you require. As such, you will need to be tenacious and resilient. There is likely to be some travel during the first few months so that you have the opportunity to gain familiarity with business operations and build relationships with key divisional stakeholders.
In your engineering oriented background you can also point to commercial/finance experience. Other background options could include a scientist or environmental scientist and although a background in government is a possibility, the preference is for the private sector. In an ideal world you will also have had exposure to national greenhouse reporting. This is a high profile and very visible role and you will have access to the EGMs and the CEO, thus offering great potential for launching a career within the company. The role may also suit a mature person looking for a high quality role before retirement.
