Ian Basser steps down as CEO of Chandler Macleod, Cameron Judson appointed to CEO role.

Chairman of Chandler Macleod (ASX:CMG), Richard England and Chief Executive Officer, Ian Basser jointly announced today that Mr. Basser will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Chandler Macleod, effective immediately, and will be succeeded by the current Chief Operating Officer, Cameron Judson.

Mr. England said “Ian and I have been working together for some time on his succession plan and we agreed that now was an appropriate time for him to step down as CEO of Chandler Macleod. Ian has been in the group for five years, the last four as our CEO. He has made a fundamental difference to the business and our current growth platform is due, in no small part, to Ian’s guidance and leadership as Chief Executive.”

“In his four years as CEO, Ian helped shape a strategy that has changed the company from a labour hire and recruitment business reliant on permanent and temporary revenue, to an integrated workforce planning and management company with a broad range of managed service businesses that provide long-term sustainable revenues. This change has resulted in a company that is now worth more than five times its value of four years ago. With the succession plan enacted, Ian will work alongside our new CEO to ensure there is a smooth transition, and at the request of the board, continue in a strategic role to develop opportunities for Chandler Macleod in Asia,” Mr. England said.

Mr. Basser said “I am extremely proud of what we achieved at Chandler Macleod in the last four years. We have weathered the GFC, restructured our balance sheet, acquired two significant businesses, expanded into Asia and made the tough calls that have set us up for growth. I have decided that now is the time for me to pass the baton to a leader who will keep the company on its current trajectory. There is a strong leadership group in place that I have enjoyed working with and I know the business is in good hands.”

With Mr. Basser stepping down, the Board has appointed Cameron Judson to the role of CEO, effective immediately and Mr. Judson will join the Board from 2 July.

Mr. Judson’s career with Chandler Macleod commenced in 2005 and has incorporated a diverse range of roles, as Director Workforce Services, Director Business Services, Executive General Manager Client Services, and Regional General Manager NSW. Prior to joining Chandler Macleod, Cameron held a number of senior appointments with Chubb and TNT. Within these large people dependent service organisations, Cameron was responsible for improving operational performance, driving innovation and change, and delivering sustainable profitable growth.

Mr. Judson said “As CEO, Ian has positioned the company well for the next stage in our growth plans and I am excited about what lies ahead for our business, clients, candidates and employees. With a strong and experienced Executive Team in place, I look forward to continuing to implement our strategy as we strive to be the region’s leading Workforce Planning, Management and Advisory company.”

Mr. England said “We are very pleased to see that the succession plan has been enacted seamlessly with Cameron stepping into the CEO role. Having such an experienced, energetic and intelligent person to fill Ian’s shoes is of great benefit to all our stakeholders. The Board look forward to continuing to work with Cameron in his new role as CEO, as we do with the Executive Team who we believe are the right people to take Chandler Macleod to the next stage in our growth.”
