If you're hesitant about making the move, consider what some of our employees have said about the following issues they faced when relocating:

1.What did you find most challenging when you first moved to Australia?

2.What do you enjoy most about living in Australia?

3.What are the differences form a career perspective from Australia to your country of origin?

4.What tips would you give to somebody thinking of relocating to Australia?

“What do I enjoy most? So many things, I’m not sure where to start!"

Anna Jones, Account Manager – Technology
(Previously United Kingdom)

  • anna_jones.jpgThe distance from family is hard to begin with, but life away from the Hectic pace of London helps to relax into the lifestyle!
  • What do I enjoy most? So many things, I’m not sure where to start! The climate - it's much better and more stable than the UK. The people are lovely – I find Australian’s easy to get on with, polite and can handle the British sense of humour and I would say that the lifestyle wins out every time – it’s a much better work/life balance here, you can go to the beach after work, be out in the parks and fresh air all weekend and see some stunning scenery all over Australia.
  • From my perspective, the difference to me has been the career path. Prior to arriving I hadn’t worked in recruitment before, but I got into this and it’s given me a defined career path, progression and a fantastic outlook for the future. I find that salaries are good in this industry and there is lots of room for movement.
  • -Firstly plan where you might want to live, the major Cities are all quite different and it’s worth researching what will suit your lifestyle the best.
-Research where career opportunities are best for you – what will offer the best options long term.
    -Purchase hats and sunscreen!

"Once you’ve got the job everything else will fall into place"

Iain Wilson, Manager – Executive Supply & Procurement
(Previously United Kingdom)

  • iain_wilson.jpgFinding a good apartment was a bit challenging at first and then waiting for my shipment to arrive; other than that it was quite easy and there were a lot of work opportunities.
  • The weather, the people, the beaches and the career opportunities.
  • I found that there were significantly more opportunities here with the skills that I had gained in the UK.
  • Once you’ve got the job everything else will fall into place, so don’t worry - Do it now!

"Choose a city  that will support the lifestyle you are looking for"

Terence Craig, - Recruitment Consultant
(Previously Northern Ireland)

  • terence_craig.jpgDeciding on where to live once I had made the decision to move.
  • The quality of life, work ethic, work life balance and the opportunities that are available to me.
  • I am at the very early stages, but the recruitment market in Northern Ireland seems to be a lot more aggressive and competitive. Business was hard to find there, it seemed there were lots of fish swimming in the same pond!
  • -Join an organisation that will support and help develop your career
-Do your home work on industries and market that you wish to recruit in before coming out to gain market knowledge prior to arrival.
-Choose a city  that will support the lifestyle you are looking for!
