The Brief
The Project Recruitment team has worked with the client since 2002, assisting with their recruitment of Graduate Management Trainees across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The graduate program looks for both recent graduates with little industry experience and graduates that have some industry experience. The program is designed to develop graduates through a two year program to be the future leaders of the organisation. The program targets a variety of disciplines ranging from Business & Management, Information Technology and Engineering (Chemical & Mechanical).
The Solution
Chandler Macleod’s involvement in the client’s Professional Development Programme recruitment process has included:
- developing and conducting assessment activities;
- co-ordinating and administering psychometric testing;
- delivering and facilitating assessment centres.
For the 2010/2011 campaign, run to recruit for up to 9 graduate roles, Chandler Macleod screened over 500 applications and administered nearly 300 online abilities tests. Eligible applications were then further assessed for their merit against the selection criteria via a number of free text responses within the application form. Successful applicants were then invited through to telephone interview, an online personality questionnaire and finally to an assessment centre in held at the client’s site in Sydney.
The Results
Chandler Macleod rigorously screened and tested many hundreds of applications, within a short timeframe, to facilitate the selection of the most suitable, high calibre candidates to attend assessment centres. Chandler Macleod facilitated 4 days of assessment centres for 32 graduates, throughout which Managers and Directors acted as assessors. The results of the psychometric assessment were used in the integration sessions at the assessment centres and played an integral part in identifying the successful graduates.
