As part of their people strategy, talented, diverse and motivated graduates are recruited around the world to help deliver on projects and safely grow their business.

The Brief

Chandler Macleod has partnered with the client since 2008 to execute graduate recruitment in Australia. Graduates are recruited from 17 separate disciplines, including Business,Engineering, Exploration and Science, and placed in one of13 of the client’s operations across Australia. Several thousand applications are received each year.

The Solution

To facilitate the evaluation of the large number of applications,an online approach has been implemented. Applications are screened against the essential criteria, followed by online psychometric tests and assessment centres. In conjunction with the client, these assessment centres were designed and co-facilitated by Chandler Macleod for the 2009 and 2010campaigns. Where requested, online safety testing and reference checks are also conducted for some of the clients Assets.

The Results

Chandler Macleod has rigorously screened more than 14,000 applications over the past three years, resulting in the selection of over 500 graduates. The process has undergone a range of refinements each year based on the results of campaign reviews and candidate feedback surveys. Our client has again engaged Chandler Macleod to run the campaign for the 2012 graduate intake, with the process expanded to incorporate the conversion of vacation students into graduate roles.
