INNOVATION IN DEPLOYMENT

Chandler Macleod Aviation creates workforces with optimum productivity through maximised utilisation. We achieve this via the sharing of similar skills groups between key functional areas, to minimise instances of downtime within shifts, and to enhance the employment experience by providing variety and opportunities for skills development.

Employees are assigned to a range of functional areas throughout the duration of their shift, so that the manpower demand fluctuations of each area are catered for without the need for increased headcount or overtime. For example, employees with skills and experience appropriate to ramp, catering and logistics may work across all three areas during the course of their working day.

This model also enables efficiency of rostering to improve the match between workforce and workflow, removing both the costs and the inherent OHS risks associated with excessive overtime.

We are currently developing an innovative Airport Precinct Model for the deployment of casual workers. Under this model, pre-qualified staff with complementary multi-skills may be placed with different host employers during the same shift.

This arrangement is attractive to employees, as it allows them to work longer hours without sacrificing flexibility, and it addresses the difficulties that our clients face in retaining casual employees. With Chandler Macleod Aviation monitoring and managing this process, we can oversee Occupational Health and Safety, and in particular fatigue management, which is such a key factor in this industry.
